The challenge

A cargo flight is more than a schedule entry

A confirmed customer request still needs a suitable flight, available capacity, accepted cargo, a current load plan and a dispatch release. Keep those decisions attached to the same operation instead of reconciling separate cargo and flight spreadsheets.

Capabilities

Built around the way you work

Each capability is part of the connected FlightStratix workspace.

Flight and crew control

Create cargo operational flights, assign aircraft and crew, record timing changes and actuals, and review flight readiness in the operational board.

Cargo sales and shipments

Convert requests into versioned quotes, create consignments, record pieces and dimensions, and allocate cargo to eligible flights.

Loading and dangerous goods

Build aircraft-specific load plans, evaluate weight/volume constraints, record actual load and offloads, and handle declarations and NOTOC revisions.

Release and review

Use the cargo plan’s readiness as an input to dispatch release checks. Review flight activity and cargo performance by date, route and metric.

How it works in detail

Cargo airline operations from freight request to released flight

An aircraft is not ready because the flight exists; its cargo, crew and release conditions must be ready too.

One flight view with cargo readiness

Create and open cargo flights in the Cargo Operations board. Assign aircraft and crew, review retimes or diversions and record flight actuals. A flight with no complete load plan is not treated as released simply because it appears on the board; cargo readiness feeds the dispatch review.

Connect sales commitments with flight capacity

Enter a consignment or whole-aircraft enquiry, capture commodity, pieces, dimensions, weight and dangerous-goods flags, and create versioned quotations. Accepted sales work can become a consignment linked to a suitable existing flight or a newly created cargo charter flight.

Build a defensible loading record

Choose a configured aircraft payload/compartment profile, enter pieces and their planned position, run checks and preserve revisions. The system requires a nonempty load and does not treat unknown checks as successful. Record actual loaded weight or offloads after finalisation.

Cargo documentation and operational reporting

Keep dangerous-goods declarations, NOTOC versions and acknowledgement within the flight context. Track tonnes, freight tonne-kilometres, load factor and accepted quote revenue with their proper definitions. Share selected shipment events through tokenised public tracking links.

Under the hood

From commercial cargo acceptance to dispatch readiness

Cargo sales and the flight plan use different records, for good reason

A cargo enquiry can be for a consignment or a whole-aircraft charter. Sales records capture the requested route and date window, commodity, pieces, weight, volume, dimensions and dangerous-goods flag before a quotation is built. The accepted quotation may create a consignment against an appropriate existing flight or originate a new cargo charter flight. The cargo operations board then manages the actual aircraft, crew, times and release status. The distinction keeps a customer’s original requirement visible even when flight arrangements later change.

Follow individual pieces, not only an AWB number

Shipment records include shipper, consignee, current station, pieces, chargeable weight, acceptance and tracking events. Specific pieces can be allocated to an eligible flight or split across flights. Offloading an allocation is an explicit workflow. ULD records can hold serviceability and movement history, while pieces can be associated with a ULD code. This is useful for understanding exactly what is planned to travel on which aircraft, without implying automatic airport-scanner or hardware tracking.

Control the physical load separately from the booking

A flight’s cargo configuration defines total payload and volume and individual compartment limits, including door dimensions and dangerous-goods permissions. The load planner selects the configuration, assigns eligible items to compartments and reviews the system’s checks. A plan is not finalised if it is empty or if checks are FAIL or UNKNOWN. After finalisation, the team records actual loaded quantities or offloads and can reopen with a reason when an amendment is needed. Changes use revisions to detect stale edits. See cargo load planning.

Dangerous goods and crew notification follow the current plan

Dangerous-goods declarations hold UN number, proper shipping name, class, packing group, quantity and acceptance decision. The NOTOC is assembled from relevant goods on the current flight plan, issued with revision handling and made available for crew acknowledgement. When the load changes, the team can identify whether a prior NOTOC is out of date. The record and approval workflow supports, rather than replaces, the operator’s dangerous-goods procedures.

Cargo performance is not the same thing as payment received

Capacity and commercial reporting show remaining flight capacity, tonnes carried, freight tonne-kilometres, load factor, shipment states and accepted quotation revenue. Quoted or accepted value must be kept distinct from invoiced and paid value. Cargo flight operations also draw on shared crew, dispatch, maintenance and client records, where included in Fx Cargo entitlements.

Operational detail

Connect the cargo commitment to the freighter flight.

Carry the accepted request into operations

Keep the cargo request, commercial terms and shipment details connected as work moves from sales into flight preparation. The operational team needs the shipment context when planning the movement and checking what is ready for release.

Keep the load and flight records aligned

Review shipment allocation alongside the aircraft and load-planning record. Record the operational events against the shipment so the cargo team can follow the work through flight preparation and later handover.

Real-world scenarios

See it in context

Scenario

Part of a shipment is offloaded

A confirmed consignment is allocated to a planned freighter flight. Before release, the load team discovers that a piece must be offloaded. The shipment allocation is adjusted, the load plan is reviewed and the relevant cargo readiness checks are run again. The operating flight cannot rely on the earlier load release without taking the revised position into account. The shipment record keeps the allocation and tracking context for the customer. Explore cargo management and shipment tracking.

Operational example

An operational example

A customer books three pallets for a freighter sector. Sales records commodity, dimensions and chargeable weight, then accepts a quote. Operations allocates the pieces to a flight, checks available compartment limits and finalises a load plan. A dangerous-goods declaration, when applicable, is assessed before the current NOTOC can be issued for crew acknowledgement.

Records and handoffs

Cargo request → quotation → shipment and pieces → flight allocation → load plan and DG → release → movement status.

Scope

Connect cargo sales, shipments and freighter operations. Marketplace connections, customs filing, scanning systems and timetable entitlements depend on the services configured for your organisation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Fx Cargo Ops simply Fx Airline Ops with a cargo label?

No. It has cargo request, quotation, shipment, piece allocation, ULD, load-plan and NOTOC workflows that sit alongside shared flight-operation capabilities.

Is a NOTOC produced without operator review?

The system supports declarations, decisions and current NOTOC versions. It should not be presented as an automated dangerous-goods approval service or a substitute for operator procedures.

Is Fx Cargo Ops the same as freight-forwarding software?

No. It is built for cargo aircraft operators and their operational flights, with cargo sales, shipment and loading workflows.

Does every airline-scheduling feature come with Cargo Ops?

No. The source catalog does not include the dedicated airline timetable module in Cargo’s default entitlement.

Can a load plan affect release readiness?

Yes. Cargo plan status and evaluation are checked before flight-release signing.
